O
ur Shepherds and Corgis help us educate others on various subjects, as well as provide therapy for children, the elderly, and the challenged. We aspire to carry a reputation in the therapeutic canine industry for developing unique programs that achieve maximum results.
We target schools, juvenile offenders, and “at risk” children, as well as mentally and physically challenged individuals. Our literacy program has been instrumental in helping students with reading deficiencies and has given them the opportunity to gain self-confidence to increase their reading proficiency.
SCHEP’s anti-bullying assemblies have helped students across Oklahoma learn the mental side of bullying
and to make better choices. We have been guest speakers at several seminars on bullying, managing aggressive behavior, and other educational topics. SCHEP has several programs that have been implemented, and is continuing to grow; our additional programs will need further funding.
We are currently putting together a canine therapy team to work for the fall ’10 – ’11 school year . This team will work with mentally & physically challenged, and “at risk” kids. We have been very successful in the past and are excited to put the new team to the test.
Currently we have four male German Shepherds and two Corgis. Our dogs teach kids such things as anti-bullying methods, de-escalation techniques, and help with the occasional “I just need a canine hug”.
